Oh, this is quite gorgeous! The landscape in the background looks great, with just the right amount of detail in the right places! At the same time it frames and highlights the envoys, and the fact that the one I assume is Angrod, that his horse's legs are cut off by the bottom of the image gives it even more depth and perspective. The brown horse might perhaps benefit from a wee bit of shadown under the mane, but that's a minor detail! Gorgeous, and quite a good part of the book to choose to paint!
About how long did it take? What greens did you use?
Well, it took about 2 days in fact, but of course i didn't just draw and draw during these days I merge colours usually, and I guess I could have used only indigo, burnt umber, sepia, yellow, ultramarine and olive green may be...not sure really
I just love your Tolkien watercolours! There's something bothering me about the way Angrod's banner ends exactly where the horse behind him starts - it looks as if he has a very small horse speared to the end of the pole.
