Love the loose, paintery style in the foreground.

Goosebumps! Wonderful scene you captured here. I can almost feel the cold of Helcaraxe

Really like the technique and the mood :D
Watercolour, I love this media, but it's so hard to master :)

Just a couple of details: Turgon's hair was dark, as Fingon's - and the Sun did not rise in the West for the first time until the host of Fingolfin arrived in Beleriand - as they marched into Mithrim - so they crossed the Helcaraxe in the dark :D

Thank you!
As for details :) Yes, I know that and I know, that it's a bug in the picture :)

Turgon at Helcaraxë -- Oh, damnit! Just when i thought no one else had illustrated this moment! :D

But what a beautiful painting.. You've really captured the mood and character and your watercolour technique is marvelous!

Great mode. Captures well how might have been the sadness of Turgon after his loss. A fav for sure.

What a great passage of the Silmarrillion ;)

beautifully capturing. The sadness radiates from Turgon but the picture's mood is lightened by the golden light and as his friend comes forward. And the mass in the background is really well-done, too. I wish I'd have these kind of skills with watercolor.

Hmm, very interesting piece. I'm surprised you chose the Helcaraxe as a setting to do a piece about Turgon rather than Gondolin. Regardless, it came out very well.

IMHO quite light hair color for Turgon, but he looks great with it - sa sad, but peaceful like he has agreed with his fate and lost.

Ah, but I see Fingon in the background  The crowd behind them is fantastic!

I guess if it wasn't watercolor or you haven't focus on the main characters you would make a night here - for there was no such strong light at the ice, no sun and moon, yet. I guess it is hard to to show the details in darkness. But don't worry of it, I really like your interpretation, it's like they were disappearing in a mist over the ice :)

Nice to see more art from you, waiting for more! :aww:

In fact, the idea was to draw the first risinf of the sun.
Sirielle Featured By Owner Sep 16, 2005   Digital Artist
Then you achieved your goal :) The sun is beautifuly rising on his face and clothes

I am too picky - I shouldn't be, forgive me, but I expect others to tell me such things, too, when they see them. And as far as I know the sun raised after they entered Beleriand, into Mithrim exactly, so I was expecting night here. But it's just a detail. And I wouldn't remember it if I haven't seen Gold-Seven's The coming of Fingolfin ;) which you know for sure. So don't mind me and keep painting! :handshake:

Gorgeous! Is this supposed to be sometime after Turgon lost Elenwe? That's the way it struck me...
